12th Annual International Gator Day -- Little Gators Golf Clinic

The Palm Beach Gator Club held a Little Gators Golf Clinic for children ages 7-13 during the 5th Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament at Cypress Creek Country Club. Tourney players came in at 8:00am for breakfast started playing at 9:00am. At 10:00a.m. children from the Boys & Girls Club of Palm Beach County come in, and were taught the basics of golf.

The golf lesson was conducted by golf pros Mike Walsh, PGA Member and Dave Kerr, PGA Member. It was a 90-minute long session in which Earl Everett, former UF linebacker, took a time-out from playing in the golf tournament to putt with the kids and gave each child personalized signed autoraphed photos from him. In addition to the Litte Gators’ Golf Clinic, registered golfers were asked to bring in at least two canned goods to be donated to the Boynton Beach Soup Kitchen whom currently gives out 1.3 million bags of food each year in Palm Beach County. We were able to donate cartons of canned goods.

International Gator Day is designed as a day when Gators come together to volunteer. Each year on the third Saturday of May, Gators worldwide join forces to positively impact their communities. Gator Clubs from Key West to New York to Seattle to Japan and beyond participate in this day of service. This annual event enlists the strength and size of the Gator Nation to help organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, food banks and clean-up/beautification projects.
